Turnfolk guide: Battle
How damage works, and what gives you an edge.
How an attack works
The game shows the exact result before you attack. Nothing is random.
- Damage depends on the attacker's attack and the defender's defence. A wounded unit is weaker in both: at half health it fights at half strength.
- A defender that survives hits back, but only once per turn, and only if the attacker is within its range. An archer attacking a warrior from 2 hexes away takes no damage.
- A unit that drops to 0 health is removed immediately.
Bonuses
- +25%attack for each of your other units next to the target, counting up to 2 units
- +50%defence for a unit in forest, on hills or on mountains
- +100%defence for a unit in a city with walls. Catapults ignore this bonus
- ×2defence for a spearman attacked by a rider
Terrain
- PlainsNo effect on movement or battle.
- Forest+50% defence. A unit that enters stops moving.
- Hills+50% defence. Units here see one hex further.
- Mountain+50% defence. Needs Climbing to cross.
- WaterUnits cannot cross.
Healing
- +2health per turn for a unit that did not move, attack or capture
- +4health instead, if that unit is on your own land
A duel with another player
- Players take their moves one after the other. Who goes first is decided at random when the match starts, and stays the same every turn.
- Each move has a time limit. If the time runs out, your move ends automatically. If that happens twice in a row, the AI takes over your seat.
